BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING T)ie ordinary meeting of the Richmond Borough Council was held on Tuesday evening. Present : The Mayor ii\lr H. Warren Kelly), Councillors Pol glaze, Norris, Poole, Tuffneli, Palmer, and McGlnshen. Accounts totalling £‘C3 2s were .passed for payment. The foreman’s report was read and adopted as follows:--The concrete kerbiug in Lower Queen street is not quite completed. The pot holes on the side of the bitumen m Salisbury road have, been attended to. TJje grader has been worked- oil the Nelson-Inangfihua Junction Main Highway. A. fire belt has been burned at the reservoir on the eastern side of the fir trees. The notice .boards to .dire ' traffic at the, cemetery have ..been erected. Fifteen yards of gravel have been carted .into the yard .with {he truck ■ : . . ;. !

. The Railway Department notified that instructions hail been issued for the noxious weeds on the Railway property to be attended to. Councillor Norris drew attention U the fact . tliat blnekhef'.-ics, m fiont, n > r the station bouse bad not been cut. It was resolved that'the tenant occupying the bouse be asked to cut these blackberries! \ It was decided that those rates not paid or arranged for be placed in the bands of the Boroitgh solicitor for collection.
Re covering the floor in the Fire Brigade Hall, a report is to be presented at next, meeting. .•
In reply to Councillor •McGlnshen the Mayor, stated .tipit/ work on Hill street south would'be resumed at the earliest possible date. Councillor Palmer drew attention to the condition of Wen hey road which, lie stated was the roughest rqad in the borough. The Mayor questioned • this and offered to-lake Councillor Palmer up Champion road. - One tender for the snilitnYv ronfcn.'.‘‘ was received—that of Mr L. S. Wincbolnirn at £4 5s per week. . Tlie. tender was accepted. On the Mayor’s mol ion it was resolved that the eontrimi price be reviewed overv six months.
