NELSON GOODWILL TEAM WEST COAST TOUR CONCLUDES M ATCHES AO A INST'RUN ANGA, REE ETON AND .MURCHISON The Nelson Bowlers’ Goodwill touring team arrived homo last evening after spending eight days on the West Coast, during which time they played matches against ten clubs. Throughout the tour .tlio weather was excellent and the members of the touring team greatly appreciated the hospitality of the West Coast bowlers. At Murchison at the week-end a mixed match was played, combining the members of the Nelson Bowlers' Goodwill tour and of the Murchison Bowling Club. Mr Gillooly, president of the Murchison Club, in extending a very warm welcome to the visitors, expressed the pleasure it gave the club to have a visit as it was the club’s first year. He also made special reference to the assistance given the Club by Mr G. Malison, President of the Nelson Bowling Centre and thanked Mr P Kitchingman for his donation of a cup for competition. Mr H. Crawley, replying on behalf of the visitors said he was greatly surprised at the splendid progress made by the club in so short a time. The green, for a first year green, was in remarkably good order and he confidently anticipated that next year several members from Murchison would find it convenient to join up with the Goodwill team when it tours ihe West Coast. The results of the Murchison games were as follows : Marsh, McGregor (Murchison), Edwards (Murchison), Chapman (s) 19; Gappm\ Neilsou (Murchison), Marshall (Murchison), Richards (s) 14. Whitehorn, Blincoe (Murchison), Jenkins, Kitchingman (s) 18; Smith, Bowes (Murchison), McArthur, Crawley (s) 26. Wade (Murchison), Steward (Murchison), Thomson, Gillooly (s) 20; Gay (Murchison), McKay (Murchison), Hume, Munson (s) 28. McLachan (Murchison), Logan (Murchison) (s) 20; Bromell, Carter (s) 20. A match was played at Runanga on Friday, the home club defeating the visitors by 104 points to 59. At Reeiton on Saturday an enjoyable match was played, the result being Reef ton 83, Nelson 70. While at Reefton the members of the Goodwill team made a presentation of a pipe and tobacco to Mr H. Crawley in recognition of his services in organising and managing the goodwill tour for the second year. Mr G Manson, on behalf of the’ touring team complimented Mr Crawley on the efficient manner in which he had conducted the tour and thanked him for his services throughout. In reply Mir Crawley said he was taken completely by surprise by the presentation and ill thanking his team mates added that it was his desire and objective to promote and cement the leelmgs of goodwill which should exist among all howlers.
