THE RANGATIRA

DOCKING DEFERRED TILL THIS MORNING (Bt Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, 7th February. The breakdown of a salvage pump and the fresh southerly breeze prevented the docking of the damaged inter-island steamer Rangatira yesterday. On Thursday night one of the salvage pumps engaged /in , clearing the water out of the Rangatira broke down, and as a consequence the vessel was not ready to dock as early yesterday as had been anticipated. Later in the morning, when the vessel was ready for docking, the southerly breeze freshened, and as early in the afternoon it showed signs of freshening still further it was decided to postpone the move until this morning.

All preparations had been made at the floating dock, which was submerged during the morning in readiness for the entry of the Rangatira.
