TOBACCO INDUSTRY

REPRESENTATIVES ON COMMITTEE NOMINATIONS RECEIVED (By Telegraph—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Ist February. Nominations from growers and manufacturers in the tobacco industry for their representatives on the tobacco committee to be set up shortly have been received by the Minister of Industries' and Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan. Mr Sullivan explained this morning that it was the intention of the Government to form the committee on democratic principles. Growers and manufacturers had each nominated more than their four representatives, and they had been asked to confer with a view to making the representation unanimous on each side. There would be eight members on the new committee, four being drawn from the growers and four from the ;manufacturers, with the Minister or his representative acting as chairman.
