NOTES ON REPRESENTATIVE GAME -vim. • Through Wanganui being unable to come down at the last minute Nelson were put against the Wellington A team. Wellington were too experienced, but considering the short time they have been learning the game, Nelson did very well. The Nelson team looked smart with their uniforms and caps to match. This caused favourable comment from the large crowd estimated-at'-near 1500 spectators. Some individual performances bear comparison with the standard shown by Wellington. Miss L. Howard top-scored both innings with 16 and 36. Olio shot which was warmly applauded was the gem of the match, a perfect cover drive which went the length of the Basin. Miss B. Gardiner, bowling into a southerly, kept an excellent length and had Wellington’s leading batswomeu in trouble, taking two of their best for 6 runs off 6 overs. A little more use of her bowling would have made a big difference in the score. Miss J. Fowler gave a splendid exhibition behind the slumps. Besides stumping two batswomen she allowed only six byes in Wellington’s total of 226. Miss J. McDonald was frequently applauded for fine fielding at deep leg.
