EXPELLED
FOREIGN JOURNALIST GERMANY'S WIDE RESTRICTIONS INTIMIDATION INCREASING (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 15th January, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, i3th January. The “Manchester Guardian’s” Berlin correspondent says that Ernst Popper, Berlin correspondent of the “Prager Tageblatt” was expelled from Germany on the grounds of sending reports prejudicial to Nazism. Popper is the fourth foreign journalist to be expelled in tile last few months.
The expulsion notice is remarkable because it lays down wide restrictions for foreign correspondents. It forbids them to report on matters of national defence, home* or foreign politics, Government policy or economic activities. The method of intimidation against foreign journalists are increasing. Some have been arrested and the Propaganda Ministry has warned others that their messages bring them into disfavour.
