A bulletin issued this afternoon from Middlesex Hospital, where Mr Rudyard Kipling was operated upon, states that lie is maintaining his position. Enquiries as to Mr Kipling’s condition were made to-day on behalf of the King, who was informed that lie was a shade better, and his condition was us satisfactory as could be expected in the circumstances. Mr Kipling’s operation was for a perforated stomachic ulcer condition, which is liable to sudden relapse. Grave anxiety was felt late to-night. Mrs Kipling’ and his daughter, Mrs Bainbridge, saw the patient for a few moments in the morning. They revisited the hospital in the evening, but Mr Kipling, who bad been dozing fitfully, was too exhausted to speak to callers, including Mr Stanley Baldwin, who is Mr Kipling’s cousin.
