O'REILLY COLLECTS WICKETS O’BRIEN’S FIRST SUCCESS WITH BALL SHORT, BRIGHT CAREER BY MORKEL (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 15th January, 9.50 a.m.) EAST LONDON, 14tli January. The Australian cricketers defeated Border by an innings and 14 runs. Today Border carried their over-night score of 07 for seven wickets to 128 before the last wicket fell, hut failed to avert an innings defeat. The local side was facing an innings defeat when stumps were drawn at the end of the second day’s play yesterday. Australia’s innings was declared closed at 351 for nine wickets, McCabe and Chipperfield having scored centuries, and Border had scored on 07 for the loss of seven wickets in their second innings when play ended for the day. To-day O’Brien took his first South African wicket when Richardson caught Mandy off Ms bowling. Morkel used the long handle to advantage, taking 18, including four fours, off one over from O’Brien. Morkel altogether scored six fours, and the last wicket partnership added 55 runs in little over half an hour. Details:—

TEST IN FIJI MASSEY BOWLS WELL SUVA, 14th January. Conditions were ideal for the final Test match between All Fiji and the New Zealand “Maoriland” cricketers. The Fijian team was: Forster (captain)," Prince Cakobau, Rennie, Moorhouse, Halsted, Robinson, Wendt, Viliaminaceva, Taraga, Mosese,, Semi and Coath (12th man). The visitors, in their first innings, made 234 (Dunning 67, Wyatt 21, Sandford 17, Walter 49, Riley 15, Vipond 9, Massey 8, Bright 17, Rensli aw 0, Andrews" 4, Sutherland 11, extras 10). The batsmen are now more accustomed to local conditions. Dunning gave a forceful display, but Walter scored slowly and was lucky. Taraga, the native express bowler was unsuccessful. .Cakobau was the best bowler,, taking four wickets for 48. Moorhouse took two for 34. Fiji replied with 65 for .six wickets. Massey took five wickets for 25, two for none in his first over. The local batsmen were unable to do anything against his variations of pace and pitch.
