We quote: Hides.—Heavies Id to l£d higher; mediums and lights par to |d higher; kip -J*d to Id higher; calf higher. Ox, 331bs to 441bs, 4|d to 6d; 45/52, 3|d to 7|d; 53/59, 6d to B£d; 60/69, 7*d to B£d; 701bs and over 9d. Cow, 33/39, s£d to 6|d; 40/48, 4 1-B'd to 6 l-8d; 49 lbs and over 3|d to 6cl. Kip, 25/32, 4 l-8d to 6fd; 17/24, 4 l-8d to 7 l-Bd. Yearling, 11/16, 4d to B£d. Calf, 9/10, 3d to B£d; 6/8, 6d llfdj 1/5, 5d llfd. Sheepskins.—-Diy, gd to £(1 per lb higher. Halfbred, to lOfd; fine crossbred, to 10^-d; medium crossbred, sld to 9d; coarse crossbred, s£d to BAd; half wools, 4£d to B£d; quarter, wools, 4d to 7£d; pelts 3d to 6gd. Salteds showed a corresponding rise. Pelts, Is Id to 2s Id; quarter wools, 2s 8d; three-quarter wools ss; full wools, 6s 3d; lambs 9d to 2s let. Tallow.—Slightly easier. In casks etc., 26s to 28s; in tins, etc., 8s to 18s. Sundries.—Cow tails, 9gd; horse hair, 18d to 19d. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLE The department of agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 11th January, from the High Commissioner for iSfew Zealand, London: — Tallow: Market continues quiet; values nominally unchanged. Hemp: Manila, Market quiet but steady with fair trade demand. Value “K” grade for January-March shipment £23 10s. Sisal. Market quiet but steadier at the close. January-March shipment value £2B ss; February-April shipment sold at £2B 10s. New Zealand: Small businesse done. Common grade £lB 10s. Nominal value on the basis of Highpoints is £2l 10s. Apples: Market slow. Californian Newton, 11s to 12s: Oregon Newton 12s to 13s 6d; British Columbian Jonath an 6s to 10s. Pears. Market steady. Californian Winter Nelis 9s 6d to 14s; Oregon Beurre Bose 11s to 12s 6d; Comice 16s to 18s
