ASSISTANCE FOR PRODUCERS (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, 9th January. Plans to encourage the importation of pedigree stock from Britain to improve Australian herds have been announced by the Department of Commerce. Its assistance will take the form of a contribution toward the expenses of importing pedigree cattle, sheep, goats and swine, l/ut no assistance will be given in respect to the cost of the animals themselves. Shipping companies have agreed to make certain concessions in regard to freight.
