MATAKI JUNCTION DREDGE OFFICIAL OPENING ON MONDAY (From Our Own Correspondent) The official opening of the Mafcaki Junction Gold Dredging Company’s new dredge will take place at 9 a.m, on Monday next, 13th January. Keen interest has been manifested locally throughout all stages of construction of the dredge. Dredging operations actually commenced this week after a temporary hold up for water. In everv respect regarding its construction results are all that were anticipated reflecting most creditably upon the contractor, Mr G. McKay. With a dredge equipped throughout with every modern appliance for the dredging and saving of gold, the future of the venture is most promising, the ground to be dredged having been thoroughly tested. At the opening on Monday the Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister of Mines and the Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Public Works,will he in 'attendance in addition to other Members of Parliament. MINISTERIAL VISIT The visit of the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple, and the Minister of Mines, tile Hon. P. C. Webb is being taken advantage of by tbe County Council and the Progress League, who meet on Friday evening next° to prepare deputations to wait upon the Ministers when here over the week-end. Midland Line, Lewis Pass and other matters of moment will he submitted for consideration.

The Ministerial party is due to arrive here on Sunday.
