L. Clifford, rider of Refresher in the Ngaere Handicap, was suspended for ft month for careless riding. R. Reed’s riding of Notium in the Electric Handicap was the subject of inquiry, but no action was taken. The t.otalisator handled £IB,OBI, against £14,279 on the corresponding day last year. Upon returning to the enclosure after winning the Peter Moore Gold Cup at the Moorefield Races Cherry King met with a hostile reception. During the Randwiek Carnival he raced indifferently, but to-day he came with a great run over the last half mile to win narrowly. The Moorefield Club has offered a bonus of £l9O to the owner of any horse breaking certain records. The mile record standing to the credit of Cave Dweller since 1929, was lowered by a quarter of a second by Cherry King. “Results:— Peter Moore Gold Cup—Cherry King, 8.0 (Shean), 1; Flamari, 6.10 (Wallace), 2; Baehian, 8.5 (Knox) 3. Money Spi and Gallant Knight wore unplaced in the Three-and-Four-Year-Old Handicap. The Palmist was second in the Juvenile Handicap, in which Lady Ida and Paepnta were unplaced.
