DEATH OF MELBOURNE DOCTOR

MURDER CHARGE WITHDRAWN MANSLAUGHTER SUBSTITUTED (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) MELBOURNE, 18th December. The Crown Law Department has withdrawn the charge of murder against Dr. Allan Bothamley and he will be tried on a charge of manslaughter.

Dr Allan John Bothamley, aged 4o years of Johnston Street, Fitzroy, was before the City Court oil 20th November charged with the murder of Dr Loughnan. Detective Hogg gave evidence that Bothamley visited the detective office and declared that he had killed Loughnan. Tho detective said it had been alleged that an argument occurred in connection with the payment of money due for medical practice which Bothamley brought from Loughnan. A serious altercation occurred in the surgery. Loughnan died of severe wounds inflicted with a tyre lever.
