COBB SCHEME
SURVEY WORK PROCEEDING THE SUBSIDIARY COMPANY
The Waimea Power Board at yesterday’s meeting was advised by the Public Works Department of an Order-in-Council amending the Hume Pipe Company’s license to develop electricity in the fcobb Valley to extend the two years’ period to two years and four months. The chairman pointed out that it was four months from the issue of the license to the time work was commenced. Mr Stephens explained that the amendment conformed with the provisions in the agreement. A letter from Mr W. T. Strand, New Zealand representative of the Hume Pipe Company, was read in committee. It was resolved, and confirmed in open board, that the Hume Pipe Company be asked for full information to be cabled from London that the new subsidiary company had been formed and the agreement with the board signed. The chairman pointed out that the survey work had been commenced last month and was proceeding.
On 20th November last Mr W. T. Strand advised the chairman of the Power Board, Mr Herbert Everett as follows : “For the information of your Board I wish to advise that our London Company has authorised me to instruct our engineers to immediately proceed with the development of the Cobb river hydro scheme.”
