WAIMEA WEST
Preparations are being made for a gala day to be held in the Waiinea West school grounds on Saturday, 16th November/ to raise funds for laying down another tennis court. A plentiful supply of home-made cakes, cream, etc., will be sold. There will be a Christmas tree and various competitions, and special provision has been made for entertaining patrons. Transport will be provided to arid from Brightwater. A special feature will be the wheelbarrow race from Brightwater to Waiinea West. Good prizes are being generously donated for this event. The Nelson City Pipe Band will parade and supply music. Winners of dancing events at the recent competitions will be giving a variety of’ dancing items during the afternoon and evening. Refreshments and afternoon tea will be available at the usual prices. With tho additional now tennis court available for players arid, other amusements, patrons can be assured of an enjoyable time. Nelson people are invited to make tho “Three Bridges” trip and call at the school ground for refreshments arid procure a supply of good things for the week-end. The committee is grateful to all who have contributed gifts, financial and otherwise. The response has been most gratifying and it is hoped that the results of the gala will enable the debt on tbe new court to be completely wiped out.
