SPRING GROVE

A GIFT EVENING The school at Spring Grove was artistically decorated recently with wattle, crimson camellias, and paper streamers to stone, the occasion being a. gift evening, gjven in honour of Miss Joyce White and Mr George Robertson, on the eve of their marriage, by Mesdames C. Kidson, G. Francois, and H. Ricketts. A large and representative number of friends were welcomed by tlie hosts and hostesses and games both old and new were indulged in and enjoyed by alb Mr G. Francois delighted the company with solos, being accompanied on the piano by All's McFarlane. A “can” competition .called foi‘ quick wits, and another competition “Baby clothes pegged on lines” by gentlemen caused great amusement. The two competitions were arranged by Mrs B. Palmer. A hunt for treasure hidden in the garden caused a lot of fun, the successful seekers being Mrs 11. Ricketts and partner, and Mesdames Lindup and A. M. Woods and Miss Bertha Tomlinson. During the evening a delicious supper prepared by the hostesses was served and greatly appreciated by all. At the close Miss White and Mr Robertson were asked to accept the good wishes of their friends, some of whom were unable to attend, and to open the parcels. Miss White and Mr Robertson did so, when a splendid collection of useful and ornamental articles was disclosed. Mr Robertson on behalf of Miss White and himself thanked everyone for a pleasant evening spent, and also for the beautiful presents. Musical honours were accorded the young couple and also the three hostesses.
