Zealand Universities team defeated Suva iby three goals to one. New Zealand ,i again played superior hockey, their stick ■ work being magnificent and their com--1 bination the best they have displayed on the tour. New Zealand dominated in the early stages: Huston, Ford and Lawry combined .in a movement which resulted in Ford scoring. Flay was even until half time. Only magnificent work by the ' goalie Hercus saved New Zealand on 1 several occasions, Suva twice being very unlucky. Soon after the interval New Zealand s strong attack culminated in Lawry scoring. Then Suva reached the circle and Moore scored. Half way through the - spell Slrulhers shot the final goal. ■ The'New Zealand team visited the old native capital of Ban on Friday and 1 were ceremoniously received by the natives. The team attended a farewell , ball this evening,, and are sailing bv the Monterey to-morrow. ; NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS [By Telegraph —Press Association] GISBORNE, 2nd September. : The Dominion women’s hockey cliam- - pionships were continued under very ad- ! verse weather conditions. Eastern Southland played Marlborough on the best ground and a fairly even game was witnessed. Eastern always had the advantage of more experience and better combination. Results : A Section—Poverty Bay A v. Auckland 2-1: Eastern Southland v. Marlborough 1-0; Southland v. Bush. 3-0. B Section—South Otago v. R-uahine 4-1; Akitio v. Ashburton 1-0; Poverty Bav B v. WairarapU 2-1.
