MA N A (IEMENT COMMITTEE MEETINGThe weekly meeting of the Nelson Rugby Union management committee held last evening was attended by Messrs K. J. Eyre (president), H. Richardson, J. F. Totter (vice-presidents). A. Aicllwraith (Nelson), R. 11. Alethven (College), N. S. Taukerslcy (Referees). 11. Sileock (Schools), R. Freeman (Finite), H. McPherson (Rover). 1). I). .Merritt (Old Boys), T. Austin (Rival), D. Fowler (Waimea). 11. Williams (Regimental). F. J. Lock (Secretary). The Waifohi (I’icton) team wrote asking for a game in Nelson on 3rd August as a curtain-raiser to the representative fixture. If was decided to reply stating that arrangements had already been made for the curtain-raiser on that date. ) Club delegates wore asked to report at the next meeting on the number of players who will attend the Jubilee Church Parade on the 4th August. All old players are invited to take part in I his parade. In reference to the suggested amalgamation of country clubs the Waimea. delegate reported that his club had had a meeting and had decided in view of the fact that it was so near the end of the season it would be desirable to complete the season with the teams unchanged. . Before the next season the Waimea Club will take up the matter with other country clubs. Air McPherson said his club would be willing to discuss the matter before next season. The Pirate delegate said bis club hoped to field a team for the rest of the season. It was reported that the Rover v. Pirate senior match on Saturday commenced 55 minutes late. The Old Boys’ delegate said his senior team would like to know definitely if Pirates could play on Saturday. It was an unenviable position for a town team to travel out to the country and then find there was no game. If was decided that the third round of the competition lie played, any club defaulting to be dropped from the competition. Air Methvcn moved that the three country clubs be amalgamated for the remainder of the season. Air McPherson asked by what right the Union could take such action. Air Fowler considered it would upset the competition too much to amalgamate the teams at present. Air Taukerslcy seconded the motion pro forma, and on it being put to the meeting it was defeated. It was decided that the Pirate team be asked to notify on Wednesday if they can field a team on Saturday. The College was granted permission to play a Team of Wellington Old Boys on Wednesday next at 3 p.m. An explanation was made of the order in which motions and amendments regarding the election of selector were put to (be meeting. A motion was then passed unanimously expressing the Union’s confidence in the selector, Air \Y. A. Reed. The Nelson Rugby Union Referees’ Association was granted £2 fur incidental expenses. NOTIFICATION OF APPEAL Tlie Nelson Referees’ Association notified tiiat it wished to appeal to the New Zealand Union against tile action of the Nelson Union in dispensing with the services of the Association. It was decided that the Association’s attention be drawn to the rule of the New Zealand Union which, states : “Any club, team player or official disqualified by an affiliated union shall have the right of appeal to the New Zealand Union within 14 days of the passing of the resolution of disqualification. Such appeal shall be senL through the local union, accompanied by a. deposit of £l, which may be forfeited should the appeal be deemed frivilous, and shall be determined by the Alanagement C oniliiittce.” SCHOOLS’ RUGBY The following are further results in tlie Nelson schools’ competitions:— Senior Auckland Point 9, Hampden Street 3.
