ATTACKS ON JEWS
CAMPAIGN IN GERMANY TO DIVERT PUBLIC ATTENTION ECONOMIC CRISIS THREATENED STATEMENT BY “MANCHESTER GUARDIAN” (United Press Association—By Eleetrio Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, 22nd July. The Berlin correspondent of the “Manchester Guardian” says that the anti-Semitic campaign is a desperate attempt to divert public attention from the economic realities. The collapse of foreign trade and the failure of Dr Schaclit’s new plan to remedy it caused widespread fears of inflation among the investing and propertied classes, and the masses are discontented at the low wages. The Stahlhelms have strongly resisted Hitlerism, especially in respect of anti-Semitism. If the Nazis dissolve the Stahllielm organisations throughout Germany it will be difficult to prevent their reappearance in another form. Meanwhile the Nazis are concentrating on the Jews. General Daleuge, a colleague of Count Wolf von Ilellclorf, Berlin Chief of Police, denounces Jews as criminals and declares pickpockets are almost all Jews, who are also the principal drug traffickers, gaming house proprietors, and sponsors of other illegal activities.
