QUEEN CARNIVAL (From Our Own Correspondent./ The round of activities for the past week, in support'of the “Valley” Princess, included a. dance in Mr Fowler's tobacco shed, on Tuesday, an old time dance on Thursday evening and the children's social on Saturday. There was a large attendance at the dance-on Tuesday and patrons thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The old time dance, with acordeon music by Mr Chant, caught the imagination of .the older generation and infused them with new life and vigour. The children’s social proved'- a much more, successful function than the oiie held the previous week. Mesdames Cook (2), had charges of the games and Mr W. Franklyn acted as M.C. - For the past week the following were prize-winners: Dick Swivvler, cushion; Viola Harvey, handkerchief sachet; E. Redmond, bottle of wine; Mrs hi. Bradley, cake. Afternoon tea was again dispensed at the Cook Recreation Ground on Saturday afternobn, and was much appreciated by . players and the public. A hockey gala has been arranged for Saturday next, comprising a ladies’ six-a-sido, a junior men’s six-a-side and a men’s representative trial game. In addition the programme will include numerous attractions and the public are assured of a full round of fun for the afternoon.
