HAINING STREET RAID
CHINESE BEFORE: THE COURT (By Telegraph—Press Association! WELLINGTON, This Day. Fines totalling £175 were imposed on seven Chinese following a raid on a den in ILnining street, last night. For permitting his premises to be used, Ah Low was fined £75, and others for being oil the premises without lawful excuse were fined from £l2 10s to £3O. From the evidence it appeared that when the raid took place the Chinese made desperate efforts to escape, and All Low was cut by the glass of a window .and had to be attended to by a. doctor at the police station. Several stitches being put in a hand. One man actually got away.
