Society, Merrymakers’ Club, and ! local Dramatic Club give plenty of choice of winter-evening entertainihent.

The latest venture. is an Ambulance Class. This met at St. John’s Sunday School ante-room on Wednesday evening, when llr. Closs gave a short lecture in an able manner, receiving the thanks of his hearers. It was resolved to form , a branch- of the St. John Ambulance Association, and to meet every Monday evening. Mr E. W. Hodgson was appointed chairman and Mrs W. Chaytor lion, secretary of the branch. On next Tuesday evening the Literary Society will hold- a .debate ' which is causing much • interest. The subject is a political one, and Dr. Closs will support the Labour Party and Mr Kingslund the National Party. Sides have been arranged by drawing for them.
