VOTE OF CONFIDENCE DEFENDING THE FRANC (United Press Association—Tsy Electric Telegraph—Copyright) PARIS. 7tli June. On the question of shelving all interpellations the Chamber of Deputies passed a vote of confidence in M. Laval’s Government by -112 votes to 137. This followed the promulgation of a Ministerial demand for exceptional powers for five months in order to enable. Cabinet to combat speculation and defend the franc. The House adjourned when the Finance Committee adopted. the Bill by 19 votes to 14. 'M. Bouisson, Premier of the late Three-Days Ministry, was re-elected President of the Chamber by 285 to 159. PLENARY POWERS BILL PASSED PARIS, Bth June. The Exceptional Powers Bill sulimitled bv M. Laval consisted of a single clause authorising tile Government to take by decree until 21st October all measures necessary to light speculation and defend the franc. The Bill was adopted by 324 votes to 160. The Senate passed the Plenary Powers Bill by 223 votes to 15. AIM OF GOVERNMENT REMOVING THE DEFICIT . PARIS, Bth June. M. Laval, Prime Minister, addressing the Senate, promised before introducing special measures that he would consult the President, the Senate, the Chamber, and their finance commissions during the forthcoming vacation, though he would not necessarily accept their advice. Parliament was adjourned till 18th June, when if will meet for a few days and again adjourn until autumn. Meanwhile Cabinet is aiming at removing the deficit.
