In the women’s golf championship final Miss Wanda Morgan defeated Miss Pam Barton, 3 and 2. Barracking by the caddies marred the final between Bliss Barton and . Miss Morgan. Miss Barton changed the caddie she has so far employed and offered to pay him the customary day’s fee, but twenty caddies, demanding 40s and an apology, followed the players, criticising Miss Barton’s caddie and applauding Miss Morgan’s success. They demonstrated at the clubhouse at the end of the morning round. The dispute was then settled by the payment of 6s. No apology was made. The match was the best final for years. Miss Barton driving strongly led twice in the first nine holes, but Miss Morgan finished the morning round two up. She was three up at the 23rd. Miss Barton gallantly rallied and twice was within a hole of her opponent, but she putted poorly when she had a chance of squaring.
