In the Italian tennis championships Canepelc, a young Italian, beat Hopman (Australia) (i-4, 4-6, (i-3, 3-G, (5-3. The Australian Davis Cup players, who practised for the first time to-day, play at Monte Carlo on 26th and 3Cth April, but only doubles and mixed doubles. Thence they will proceed dinet to Eastbourne for the Cup tie against New Zealand. WIN FOR MALFROY LONDON, 18th April. At the Melbury tennis tournament quarter-finals Malfroy defeated Nigel Sharpe 6-2. 6-4; Miss Round defeated Mrs Whittingsall, 6-1. 6-4. In the semi-final Austin defealed Malfroy 6-1, 6-0.
