ALLEGED ASSAULT
TWO PEOPLE INJURED
(By Telegraph—Press Association''
WELLINGTON, 4th March. Injuries received as the result of an alleged assault with a bottle resulted in J. King, of Ghuznee street, traveller, being removed to hospital yesterday morning with lacerated wounds to the face and head, and Mrs A. Hunter, of Roxburgh street, with a wound on the forehead from a piece of glass. The man, aged 50 years, Thomas Carroll Russell Hunter, a butcher was to-day charged with assaulting King so as to cause actual bodily harm, and he was remanded until 13th March.
Asking for bail Air R. Ilardie Boys said Hunter had gone to King’s rooms on a matter of business and found his wife there with King. Hunter had lived and worked in Wellington for many years and although he had lately been separated from his wife there was no likelihood of his not answering bail. Bail was granted in £IOO, conditional on accused reporting daily to the police. He was also ordered not to approach his wife or King in the meantime.
