LEGS MYSTERY
SCOTLAND YARD INQUIRIES RECRUIT IN FOREIGN LEGION (United Press Association —Bv Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, 4th March. The “Daily Mail” says a clue in the legs mystery led a Scotland Yard detective from Dover to Calais, and lie is now inquiring at the Foreign Legion depot at Toul. It is understood he hopes to interview a recruit who enlisted recently at Dunkirk. The case might raise the important question whether a legionnaire can be questioned by anyone except the officers of tlie Legion, in which those enlisted lose their identity. A man’s legs, skilfully severed at the knee, were discovered in a brown paper parcel under the seat of a suburban train at Waterloo on 25th February.
