SMALL DEBIT
TRADE OF BRITAIN (United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, 20th February. The Board of Trade estimates a debit of £1,000,000 as the net balance of all transactions of a revenue character between the United Kingdom and other countries. In 1933 there was a credit of £2,000,000; in 1932 a debit balance of £51,000,000. The excess of imports in 1934 was £295,000,000 balanced by:— 1. Excess of Government receipts from overseas, £9,000,000. • 2. Net national shipping income, £70,000,000. 3. Income from overseas investments, £175,000,000. 4. Receipts from Commissions and ether sources, £40,000,000. Tliis leaves a debit of £1,000,000. NEW ZEALAND’S SHARE LONDON, 20th February. The Board of Trade “Journal,” in an analysis of the distribution of Britain’s overseas trade, shows that New Zealand supplied 5.52 per cent, of Britain’s imports and took 2.8 per cent, of Britain’s exports. INDUSTRIAL OUTPUT 12 PER CENT. INCREASE LAST YEAR (British Official Wireless) (Received 22nd February, noon) RUGBY. 21st 'February The industrial output in Britain in 1934 increased by 12 per cent, compared witli 1933 and the increase is 18 per cent, greater than in 1932. The index number for manufacturing industries alone is the highest yet recorded, being about lg per cent, higher than for 1929.
