MEDIUM AT SEANCES (By Telegraph—Press Association) HAMILTON, 21st February. Charged with tlie theft of moii-.-y totalling £56 10s under unusual circumstances, a fashionably-dressed young Maori woman. Martha Ormsby, or Omipi, was found guilty in the Supieme Court at Hamilton to-day. The money was alleged to have been stolen trom an Indian tailor, of Otorolninga. lhe case was described as a most unusual one, the money being obtained Lorn the Indian. Parubu Govind, at a seance at which the accused was acting as medium. She ordered Govind to part with sums of money at various sittings. On one occasion the accused .as tlie spirit in tlie'seance, demanded £2O under a threat of Govind’s three-year-ohl daughter dying within three, hours if the money w’as not forthcoming. The ii r ney was invested on racehorses which wore selected under a system know”; to the accused. Winners failed to materialise, however.
