SUGAR AGREEMENT
EXTENDED FOR FIVE YEARS ASSISTANCE TO FRUIT INDUSTRY (United Press Association —By Eleotrlo Telegraph—Copyright)
(Received fist February, 12.10 p.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The Rt. Hon. J. A. Lyons, Prime Minister, announced that the Govern-. ment has decided to extend the sugar agreement for five years from Ist September 1936, the date on which it would expire in the normal course. The existing prices will apply to the new agreement. The Government has decided that the sugar industry shall increase its annual contribution for special rebates and assistance t.o the fruit industry to £216,000 an increase of £16,000.
