REVENUE RETURNS

MAY EXCEED BUDGET ESTIMATE BRITAIN’S FINANCIAL YEAR (British Official Wireless) (Received 21st February, noon) RUGBY', 20th February. With six weeks to go to the end of Britain’s financial year, revenue returns show that there are good prospects that the Budget estimates will lie realised, and possibly exceeded. Tho estimate of ordinary revenue for the current year was £700,520,000 and £573,878,820 lias.so far come in. An average of £18,773,000 for the remaining weeks is therfore required to reach that estimate, and as last week’s revenue was £24,401,461 it would seem that anticipations should be realised. The income tax total is up on last year’s, and £43,831,000 remains to be collected to reach the estimate. Last week £13,905,000 came in. Other items are well up to the estimates. Expenditure is about the same as last year. £022,280,759, but the estimate. including supplementary grants, was for £711,190,000.
