CHILD MARRIAGES AT CHANDERNAGORE PROTEST TO FRENCH GOVERNMENT (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) CALCUTTA, 20rrTFebruary. The Government of India is considering officially protesting against the French Government’s action in permitting marriages between children from British India, which occur at Cliandernagore. It is declared Chandernagore lias been converted into an Indian Gretna Green for Bengal, Bihar and Assam. Hundreds of Hindu child marriages are being performed monthly, all arrangements being made by well financed organisations.
