To M. Litvinoff, the .Soviet representative on the League Council at Geneva Ims fallen the task of presiding over a. League Committee which is investigating the ('Meets of oil pollution oil sea birds. It is a subject which was raised some time ago by the British representative on the League Council vliicli decided to appoint a committee to go into the whole problem. If, is expected that the committee will be in a position to report at the next meeting of the Council which begins on January litli and that an endeavour will lie I’uide lo secure mi international agreement to deal with oil pollution by means of legislation in every country. But this subject is only one of minor importance on the League Council agenda.
