COMMITTEES CONFER Following the sports meeting a conference of the combined committees took place. After some discussion it was decided that, owing to seasoual work and so many competitors being unable to find time to train, it was impossible for the Motueka- Club to send a team to Westport for the Mahar Cup meeting on 16th March. The general opinion was that it would be much better to concentrate on preparing for the Easter sports’ meeting, which promises, this year to be a great success. The Nelson Club will, however, consider the question of sending a team to Westport for the Mahar Cup meeting. Plans were discussed for running athletic meetings at Easter, both at Nelson and Motueka. The executives of the two clubs have decided to cooperate and invite teams from Wellington and Christchurch, ihe programme of events for Easter Saturday at Nelson to be similar to the programme for Easier Monday at Motueka, It was agreed that the officials and competitors of both clubs take part at each sports meeting and that both clubs share the cost of advertising in connection with these meetings and the billeting and entertainment of visiting athletes.
Competitors, it was explained, would arrive in Nelson on Friday and be the guests of the Nelson Club until Sunday morning when they would be motored to Motueka. The local club would then be responsible for their billeting and entertainment till Monday evening and for their transport to Nelson to connect with boat and car for their respective destinations. The Nelson party left Motueka about 10 p.m. on the return trip.
