NAVIGATION AT FAULT PILOT’S ERROR (United Press Association—By Eloctrio Telegraph—Copyright) (Received Bth January, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, 7tli January. The Air Ministry’s Inspector of Accidents attributes the Hillman crash on 2nd October to the pilot’s lack of skill in navigation. He apparently attempted. to fly within sight of ground landmarks instead of above the clouds where the weather was good. The pilot in reattempting to pick up the coastline flew into the sea, not distinguishing the glassy surface through the mist.
Seven were killed, including the pilot, when a Hillman Airways ’plane on 2nd 'October crashed in the Channel alongside the steamer Biarritz, which immediately began rescue work and brought the bodies to Folkestone.
