DOLLS FROM JAPAN EMBLEM OF PEACE (United Press Association—Bv Electrio Telegraph—Copyright) t MELBOURNE, 29th November, With picturesque formality Sir Stanley Argylc, Premier, received from the Japanese society of Melbourne a presentation of two dolls specially imported from Japan! as a. Centenary gesture. Explaining that in Japan a. doll was regarded as an emblem of peace, the society said: “We Japanese residents of Melbourne desire to present dolls to Victoria as an eternal token of peace and friendliness of the people of Japan for Australia.’’
