STRIKING FIGURES OF SAVINGS THRIFT ORGANISATIONS (British Official Wireless: RUGBY, 21st September. Striking figures of the amount of savings by small investors, were disclosed at Cambridge: by Sir Arthur Marshall, vice-chairman of the National Savings Committee. He said that through the Post Office Savings Bank, Trustee Savings Bank, and the National Savings movement small depositors’ aggregate investments amounted to £1,234,000,000. Through other thrift organisations in Britain, such as building societies, industrial and provident societies, trade unions, etc., small investors held an aggregate total of £1,309,000,000, making a grand total of £2,543,000,000.
