At Forest Hills darkness to-day halted play in the United States men’s singles championship. Stoefen and Allison are all square, 8-6, 4-0, 11-9, 6-8, in the quarter-final to-day, and will finish the match to-morrow. Frank Parker (Lawrence vill, Virginia) beat Roderick Menzel 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-2; and Vernon Kilby (South Africa) defeated Donald Budge (California) 4-6, 0-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the fourth round matches to-day.

ALLISON AND KIRBY WIN (Received 11th September, 9.5 a.m.) NEW YORK, 16th September. In the Forest Hills tennis tournament, Allison beat Stoefen to-day 6-6, 4-6, 11-9, 6-8, 6-2. Kirby (South Africa), created an upset by defeating ‘ Shields, the top ranker and top seeded player, in the quarter-final 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. PERRY TO MEET KIRBY (Received 11th September, 9.55 a.m.) NEW YORK, 10th September. Perry beat Cliff Sutter (New Orleans) 6-3, 6-0, 6-2. He will meet Kirby in the semi-final. RUSPOLI CUP VENICE, 9tli September. In the Ruspoli Cup, fifth round, Cramm and Fraulein Aussem defeated Stedman and Miss Ingram 6-3, 0-3. MATCHES AT VENICE (Received 11th September. 12.40 p.m.) VENICE, 10th September. In the Ruspoli Cup semi-final, Boussus and Mile, Adamoff defeated Malfroy and Miss Scriven 6-2, 10-8. In the Sweden Cup final Fraulein Aussem defeated Miss'Scriven 6-3, 7-6.' In the Revedin Cup final Fraulein Aussem and Mile. Adamoff defeated Miss Scriven and Signorina Valerio 6-2, 6-3.
