The departure of the Duke of Gloucoster to-morrow on his official visit to Australia will be private and informal, but representatives of the Dominions Office, including the Rt. Hon. J. HThomas, Secretary of State for tlie Dominions, and the Hon. Stanley Biuce, High Commissioner for Australia, will attend the aerodrome where the Duke takes off on the first- stage of his journey to Marseilles, where he will join H.M.S. Sussex, Oil the way to Australia the Duke will call at Colombo, Ceylon, where he. will hand over the throne of the kings of Kandv. which has been kept at Windsor Castle since 1815, when in response to appeals from Ceylon tlie King of Kandy was dethroned.

PRINCE GEORGE

FORTHCOMING MARRIAGE AT WESTMINSTER ABBEY (Received 4th September, 12. i p.m.) RUGBY, 3rd September. The date and other details of the marriage of Prince George and Princess Marina have not been fixed, hut it is understood that the Archbishops of Canterbury and York will take part in the service at Westminster Abbey, where it is expected the wedding will be solemnised. High dignitaries of the Greek Orthodox Church, of which the Princess is a member, may also attend.

PRINCE OF WALES

PRIVATE VISIT TO PORTUGAL ENTHUSIASTIC RECEPTION (Received 4th September, 12.7 p.m.) RUGBY, 3rd September. The Prince of Wales, who is engaged on a pleasure cruise on Lord Mayne’s yacht, paid a strictly private visit to the Portuguese Colonial Exhibition at ■Oporto. Tlie Prince had an enthusiastic reception as he crossed the frontier on his way to Oporto from Leixoes. He displayed keen interest in the exhibition and congratulated the organisers on the display.
