CROSS-SOLENT RACE i NEW ZEALANDER WINS IN GOOD TIME (United Press Association—By Electric ’telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, 3rd September. The New Zealand swimmer, Malcolm Conner, won tho annual five mile crossSolent race, from Southsea to Rydc in 21irs 25mi:i, half an hour ahead of tho second man, beating the Channel swimmer, Tommes, last year's time, by a minute. He said : “It was one of the coldest swims of my life, but it was a pleasant change not to be. worried by sharks. I hope to gain other English successes.”
