MAORI GIRL KILLED

(By Telegraph—Press Association) WHANGAREI. This Day. A fatality occurred at Pipiwai, 40 miles from Whangarei, yesterday afternoon, the victim being a Maori girl, Pute Peihopa, 12 years of age, who left her home in the morning carrying an axe, and was found some hours later dead beside a taraire tree, which apparently had fallen on the girl, breaking her neck.
