BIBLE-IN-SCHOOLS

A WELLINGTON MASS MEETING (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Dav. A mass meeting in tlie Town Hall, under the nuspiccs ot tlie Bible in State Schools League, resolved to appeal to Parliament to give statutory enactment to tlie Religious Instruction in Public Schools Enabling Bill without further delay.

Archbishop Averill said he had never known any body of men wanting an amendment to the* law of the land more desirous of meeting the objections of its opponents than the Executive of the Bible in Schools Teague. There had been objections to its platform by the Roman Catholic Hierarchy, the' New Zealand Educational Institute, and the Rationalist Association, hut lie ventured to say that- every objection had been fairly and squarely considered. The present Bill incorporated many suggestions winch had been made. It was the embodiment of justice.
