WHEN GREEK MEETS GREEK
SENSATIONAL CLASH CHASE FOR JAY-WALKER (United Press Association—By Electrio • Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY. 18th August. Traffic Officer Sergeant: Parr had a sensational clash with*a Greek on Saturday following interrogating: a man for alleged jay-walking. It is stated the officer was endeavouring to ascertain the man’s name and followed him to the kitchen of a restaurant, where a Greek, wearing a waiter s coat, attacked the Sergeant , With a, chair. Eventually the Sergeant was. picked up bodily and thrown on to an almost red-hot range and suffered severe burns to his legs and one hand. In spite of his injuries the officer dived at the man, who is alleged to have grasped a knife. After a further struggle the man escaped into the street. The officer followed and saw a man running. Drawing his, revolver Sergeant Parr commanded the man to stop and arrested him.
The officer was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment.
