MEAT EXPORTS
INCREASE THIS YEAR AUSTRALIAN STATISTICS (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received lltli August, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Statistics of the values of beef, lamb, mutton, and pork exported from Australia for the year ended 30th June show a total of £5,807,000 compared with £4,706,000 in the year 1932-33.
NOTE OF WARNING PRESSING NEEDS OF OLD COUNTRY (Received lltli August, 10 a.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. Addressing the Constitutional Club, Mr E. T. Crutchley, British Government representative in Australia, asked the people not to bo too pessimistic about negotiations regarding Britain’s meat and dairy produce imports. Ho added that Britain’s home agricultural policy was dictated by most pressing needs of the Old Country. Britain had 2,000,000 unemployed and the reinstatement of agriculture was the only way of dealing with the problem.
