COMPLETE REVISION

i U.S. OCEAN MAIL POLICY RIG SAVING TO RESULT (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) WASHINGTON, 17th July. The Associated Press understands that the complete revision of the Government’s ocean mail policy is planned by the Administration within six months. The new arrangement contemplated will give direct subsidies where deemed necessary to build up the merchant marine, while tile mail will be handled on a straight poundage basis. It is estimated that such a policy will result in a saving of about 10,000,000 dollars yearly. The figures show that the Government paid about 26,000,000 dollars for the ocean mails service, while on a poundage basis the amount would have been about 3,000.000 dollars.
