SHANGHAI. 16th May

In a striking interview with the press at Nanking, Mr Wang Ching-wei, President of the. Executive Yuan and virtual head of the National Government, reaffirmed the decision to permit religous freedom throughout China. He added that the Government holds in equal esteem all religions, whether Buddhism, Mohammedanism or Christianity, for while the principle of religious tolerance is upheld superstition cannot he confounded with religion. It had been decided that all forms of superstition and the practising of the occult art are to be rigorously suppressed.
