A Hot Springs message says that the finals of the Virginia State tennis tournoment will not be played following the enforced postponement on Saturday when Allison and Van Ryn appeared too late for their scheduled appearance. Tn the Bournemouth hard court championship singles, first round, Stedmaii defeated Samsoni 6-1, 6-1, 6-0: Hare defeated T.ysagbt 5-7, 6-1, 6-3, 6-0 In the Women’s singles, first round, Mrs Whittingstall defeated Mrs Hopman (Australia) 7-5, 61 ; Mrs Molesworth (Australia) defeated Mrs Edwards 7-5, 8-6; Miss Hartman (Australia) defeated Mrs Burr 6-4, 6-4.
BOURNEMOUTH TOURNAMENT WOMEN WEAR SHORTS (Received Ist May. 12.50 p.vn.) LONDON, 30th April. In the Bournemouth tennis tournament Steelman meets Crawford in tiie second round. Several women wore shorts for the first time in any official Lawn Tennis Association tournament. In the first round Wilde defeated Tackett, 7-5. 9-7,. 6-1. In the second round Slcem defeated Sharpe 6-2, 0-6, 6-3, 6-4.
