VON PAPEN SPEAKS “WAR WOULD BE A CRIME” (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright; (Received 30th April, 8.30 a.m.) BERLIN. 29th April. “I see no possibility of war in Europe in the near future. I am certain that every nation is convinced that war would he a crime,” said von Papon in an interview. “Germany would rather he inside thc League on a basis of equality with other nations, than outside.” lie denied a suggestion that an effort would lie made to link the problem of Germany’s debts with the armament question, adding that such a junction was impossible. He repudiated a suggestion that Germany was contemplating taking advantage of the French political disorder to take the Saar question into her own hands. Von Papen added that he hoped Germany’s religious troubles would soon he settled. Negotiations with the Vatican were proceeding well.
