POTATO MARKET WEAKER

(By Telegraph—Press Association) 'CHRISTCHURCH. 27th April. The potato market shows little sign ot improving. Sufficient supplies are going north to meet needs and a little more, and there is consequently no necessity for northern merchants to come on the market. The general tone of the market is weaker. Quotations are £3 15s a ton, f.0.b., s.i., or £2 12s 6d to £2 15s on trucks, and at this price farmers arc offering very few potatoes. The northern inquiry lias been much longer in developing than was expected. July-Septem-her delivery is quoted at £4 15s a ton, f.0.b., s.i.
