TRIBUTES FROM BENCH AND BAR (By Telegraph—Press Association) •, DUNEDIN, This Day. ' Tributes to the memory of the late Mr J. C. Stephens were paid at a large gathering of members of tlie bar in the Supreme Court this morning "before Mr Justice Kennedy. The president of the Law Society said Mr Stephens was one of the oldest and most esteemed members, being admitted in 1882. Mr Justice Kennedy said that in tlie course of a long professional life Mr Stephens had been closely associated as a younger contemporary with members of the bar who ultimately came to sit on Benches, and it was, that association which determined the direction of his late studies. He was glad tb think that some of the results of this experience and the fruits of his industry had been permanently preserved in a book which bore his name.
